Wrapping long lines of thread around the ball in bands of color is one of the easiest ways to quickly decorate the thread-wrapped temari ball. Add weaving or layering, or wrap through a pivot point to acheive countless variations of this versatile technique.
I've made two videos that show this simple technique for temari:
- wrapped, interlocked bands on a simple division temari
- wrapped, interlocked bands on a combination 10 division temari.
The simplest wrapped design is a band around the equator. We call this an obi.
Bands of thread wrapped at different angles create fascinating patterns!
